IS NOSE SURGERY RIGHT FOR YOU?

When we look at a face for the first time we are inherently drawn to a person's eyes. However if the shape of the nose doesn't "fit" with the rest of a person's facial features (if it's too big, too long, too wide, humped, or crooked) it can become the focal point.

More importantly the nose has a purpose, which is to help you breath and provide a sense of smell. Certain structures inside the nose can prevent optimal breathing through your nose. Fortunately, the appearance and the function of your nose can be improved with nasal surgery.

Your Consultation

When you first meet with Dr. Kwak, use this meeting to freely discuss with Dr. Kwak what changes you are seeking. In addition, Dr. Kwak wants you to use this meeting as a chance to address any concerns you may have about nasal surgery. Dr. Kwak will examine the inside and outside of your nose. To help communicate your desired changes and also realistic surgical goals, Dr. Kwak uses a computerized image of your face during this consultation to allow you to see anticipated goals for your surgery.

Sometimes a weak chin can confuse the true shape of the nose or cause facial disharmony. Dr. Kwak may recommend a chin implant to correct for this.

The Surgery

Dr. Kwak customizes each surgery based on the specific changes that are required for each individual. Surgeries are performed in an accredited ambulatory surgery center, or one of Dr. Kwak's affiliated hospitals in New York City. Nasal surgeries are performed under general anesthesia, administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist.

Depending on the anticipated changes, Dr. Kwak may use either an open or a closed rhinoplasty approach.
